May is a few days away and the longer days and the warmer weather and the promise of my favorite season of summer to come makes it the perrrrrfect time to begin a movement challenge! ENTER: a mile a day in May!


1. Carve out out time each day to walk/jog/run/bike/dance/move for at least a mile (or 30 minutes).

2. Use the various templates I’ve designed (see below) to record your month of movement in your IG story so you can keep yourself accountable & your friends can cheer you on.

3. If you DO decide to post anything to your IG feed, please include the hashtag #amileadayinMay.

That’s it! This year, I’ve designed SUPER FUN Instagram story templates, which is where the majority of MY accountability to the challenge will live. I am also completely opened to any suggestions you have for a new design as the challenge progresses.

This first one acts as the title template, a way to announce the challenge in your story and possibly tag others to join, direct them to me for more info, and all that good stuff.

The lowdown template gives people ‘the lowdown’ on how they can participate.

This is the stats template that provides a fun way to record your ‘mile(s)’.

This photo of the day template allows you to record a photo using the photo feature within IG story (mine only allows me to capture a circle image, but I’m not sure if that’s true for everybody), and check what kind of movement the photo recorded.

Finally, the monthly template gives you a way to see your monthly progress at a glance & provide an emoji or gif image to describe your mood.

You can, of course, use or not use whichever template you want and in whatever order you want. I plan to use all five every day in my IG story mixed in with some straight up, raw recording of my movement. I want this to be super easy and fun.

* – Just to clarify, I say miles, but I count ANY movement for 30 minutes as a ‘mile’. This is just a generalization, however, and I encourage you to make this challenge YOURS, and make a ‘mile’ whatever amount of time or distance works for you. // xoxo

    Thanks so much for free templates. For the ones that don’t show up when you download the templates – do we just save the picture or screenshot them? I’m not as tech savvy as others but just wondered how to get them cause I would like to use them.

    You can do either: save the picture or screenshoot. If you go to my Instagram feed, you should see a story highlight called ‘TEMPLATES’- if you click there, you’ll see each template flash across the screen, and you could screenshoot from there! 🙂
